Your mouth is not
separate from
your body.
Meridian practices dentistry as systemic medicine — removing toxic materials, restoring with biocompatible ceramics, and using ozone and PRF to support your body's natural healing.
No fear-mongering. No conspiracy language. Just material science and clinical data — side by side.

Amalgam fillings: standard of care for 150 years
Dental amalgam is approximately 50% elemental mercury by weight. The FDA classifies it as a Class II medical device. Mercury vapor is continuously released during chewing, grinding, and temperature changes.
FDA Advisory, 2020: Certain high-risk groups — pregnant women, children under 6, and those with kidney impairment — should avoid amalgam when possible.

SMART removal: 19 steps to protect you during extraction
The IAOMT SMART protocol uses rubber dam isolation, oxygen masks, high-volume air filtration, and sectioning techniques that minimize vapor and particle release during removal.
Each replacement restoration is selected via biocompatibility testing — not default. Ozone therapy disinfects the site post-removal without antibiotics.

Titanium implants: the 60-year gold standard
Titanium has a 95%+ osseointegration success rate and decades of clinical data. However, titanium ions can leach into surrounding tissue over time, and some patients exhibit delayed hypersensitivity reactions.
A 2022 meta-analysis found titanium particles in peri-implant tissue in 47% of examined cases, with associated macrophage activation.

Zirconia implants: metal-free from root to crown
Solid zirconia implants are biocompatible, non-corrosive, and heat-resistant. The immune system doesn't recognize them as foreign. One-piece design eliminates the microgap where bacteria colonize titanium systems.
All Meridian implant cases begin with 3D cone-beam imaging to assess bone density, nerve proximity, and cavitation risk before any surgical planning.

Root canals: standard treatment for pulp infection
Root canal therapy removes infected pulp tissue and seals the canal. The tooth is retained and functional. However, bacterial biofilms in dentinal tubules cannot be fully sterilized with conventional irrigants.
Research by Weston Price demonstrated that bacteria sealed inside root canal-treated teeth can produce toxins that enter the bloodstream and may contribute to systemic inflammation.

Ozone + cone-beam evaluation before any endodontic decision
Meridian uses 3D cone-beam imaging to assess the actual state of root canal-treated teeth, including periapical lesions invisible on 2D X-rays. Ozone therapy is applied where appropriate as a non-toxic alternative to conventional irrigants.
For teeth that cannot be saved biocompatibly, ceramic implants with PRF membrane grafting provide a whole-body-compatible replacement pathway.

All statistics are drawn from peer-reviewed research. Meridian does not make therapeutic claims. Dental decisions should be made in consultation with your care team.
Every procedure designed for whole-body compatibility
Meridian uses only materials and methods that have been evaluated for systemic biocompatibility — not just local tolerance.

Three paths that lead here
Most patients arrive after months of research. You're not alone in asking these questions — and the answers exist.

"I need to know exactly what goes into my daughter's first sealants. The dentist said composite was fine — I need to know what composite."
Jennifer Walsh
Mother of two, Portland OR

"My naturopath showed me research on root canal bacteria and cardiovascular disease. I've had three root canals. I needed answers."
Marcus Chen
Hashimoto's patient, San Francisco CA

"I flew in from Chicago specifically. The 3D imaging and the fact that they don't default to prophylactic antibiotics — that's rare."
Dr. Priya Nair
Functional medicine physician, Chicago IL
